In an effort to be polite to other people from other countrys who come here to live we have turned away from our own culture and tried to bury it to show acceptance of other cultures. WRONG! While it's important to encourage others to be proud of who and what they are we should also be able to show pride in ourselves and our own culture.  I think we are letting this thing get a little out of hand. If you don't want to accept the laws of a certain land then don't go there. Our laws should stand as they always were and not change to suit people of other countries. They wouldn't change their ways and their laws for us. Yes. Welcome them to our land, accept them as they are, but we should also be accepted as we are.

Don't be proud of who you are, Or where your family came from. Your culture or your bloodlines, Could perchance offend some. Don't talk about religion, And don't in public pray. I tell you true the new taboos, Will make your hair turn gray. Don't say you like a certain sport, Support a certain team, You may offend some other fans, May dash their hopes and dreams; And don't display your moral code. You'll hurt somebody's feelings, Depending on their current stance, Or their political leanings; But if you worship idols, Perchance could be a witch, Or mayhap worship other gods, The rules then tend to switch. We don't want to hurt their feelings, Or make them to feel odd, So we encourage heathen ways, And just ignore our God.

Hi Judy, I agree with your poem. It's good welcoming other cultures, as long as they accept the culture that’s already here- Alexis

Amen to that my friend. If we were in their country and expected them to change their culture and laws for us they would tell us to go home if we didn't like it. Thanks bunches, God Bless, JB

I think I understand your poem, Judy, but as for me, I am who I am. I am not buying into many of the things you mentioned. I gladly welcome people from other cultures, but I do expect that they accept my culture, their newfound home.
