Poetic Resolutions

Life as a poet was never my chosen profession or vocation Nor do I aspire to wear a crown in ceremonial coronation but I am grateful for comments with sincere appreciation My capricious muse and I conferred, and after deliberation we offer you a list of poetry resolutions, with the stipulation that we dubiously hope to keep in this whimsical declaration 1. I will diligently try to pen new forms, without frustration 2. Write with positive karma, avoiding negative confrontation 3. Create more imaginative poems with ambiance and elation 4. Laugh at those who try to malign me with childish vexation 5. My muse made me promise to engage in harmless flirtation *List appended with a clause stating: 'exaggerated expectation' December 9th, 2021 Five New year's Resolutions Contest Sponsored by L Milton Hankins

Congratulations Lin on your winning entry! Love your creative rhyme scheme and your sense of excitement and "anticipation." One of my greatest joys here on the soup is learning new forms - challenging but so satisfying in the end. Sending you joyful blessings for the new year.

Merci, Jan. I'm beginning to take the pot stirrers with a grain of salt. They're not worth my angst, and since I know who they are, I'm laughing at their cowardly act of returning with new names. An old fish under any name still stinks.

Accent the positive, and one can't go wrong! Happy Upcoming New Year, Lin!

Aw thanks, but I don't hold much hope for Milt finding a spot for this one on his winning list. I just felt a need for a little release of tension on the site.

Thanks for your support and visit to my page. May your muse guides you in the correct route. Life is way too short to be serious all the time, so have some fun. In general, Lin, I think your list is a good one. Good luck with the contest.

I'm happy to support you and other poets on site for sharing their poetry. I will try my best to keep those resolutions, although I am certain it will be a test of my patience. Thanks, Lasaad.

Thanks for getting my intention to have fun with this one, Bill. Milt may not find it amusing, since I'm fairly certain it's not the kind of list he intended. However, I think PS can use a titch of brevity every once in a while, so I offer this... with apologies to Milt for taking up a space in his contest.

the muse awoke, I took the poke, some people sad "how nice" and silly me I tried once more to only do it twice. the muse...some times he will - some times he won't, when he will - I do, when he won't - I don't..

Taking a poke at a muse is a joke. Last time I poked mine, she poked me back with a rotten egg yoke! Thanks for your fun comment, John. My advice would be to get a new muse or give him free rein over a poem once a month. lol

A great list to adhere to Lin, I must work on number one as me and pantoum don't get on lol. First one I tried the computer nearly went out the window. Good luck in the contest. Tom
