Poet Dimples

Poet Dimples

       How can I please?
       I am lost at sea!
       I don't want to write poems, 
       that simply, are not me.
       That's pure duplicity.

       I won't sell out on me!
       And, I am human, after all.
       I do hear that non-stop siren call,
       "Be popular", that's all!

       
        That's the dichotomy,
        I find myself in.
        Like being in a circus,
        Trying to make the crowd grin.

        This poem so wonderfully
        direct and simple,
         It creates creases in my
         attractive, poet dimples.

         So, I find I only accept myself
         as is,
         And if others cannot?
         Well then, it is, what it is!
         Just write, do not sit here and rot!
