Poems of the Day

Poems of the day may reach
  Across freshly fallen snow each
Winter’s morn to warm our being;
  Or bloom on carpets of violets in spring;
Then float as the sun-tipped sparkles on lakes,
   Becoming the gems of summer the memory takes
To store as  spurs to hope and new vision in words
    We may lean on or pray on or share as we merge
Our lives to the coming of autumn’s color and song,
     Nearing an end of another year, our poems long
Too, to pen lyrics for the needed times, to inspire
    By the day or hour, to help set souls again on fire!
