Poem For Certain Critics - They Know Whom They Are - Wannabe Literary Experts In the Soup

Ears listening to only their lies, And their lies speaking only to them, Trying to be quiet yet still screaming, Drowning in rants never heard, So concise but not too clear, Imprisoned in thoughts of obsession, Muttering useless ancient literary rules, In love with yet hating poetic expressions, Foreign to their limited constrained imaginations, Trapped behind walls of old thought, Grasping yet never holding reality, While visions of punctuation and conformity crowd their tiny unexpanded minds, Judging without thinking one step ahead, Thinking thoughts that kill their judgement, Still their bodies move forward to nowhere, Their voices the only sound left to comfort them, Unaware of love just beneath their windows, Desolation blinds their desperate micro-management brains, In pathetic awe of ancient written rules, Never really meant for ones of their ilk, For they were penned for poets of consciousness, Aware their times and rules would surely end, Were never truly meant for all the centuries, Suffocating in the dust of a past they never lived, Afraid of new ideas of written expression, Created from the minds of what they fear most, Free thinking writers unafraid of literary change, And still, They talk and talk and talk, saying absolutely nothing. I like that line-suffocating in the dust of a past they never lived-I am the kind of girl that never got Shakespear, poetry in my world is Eminem, whatever pleases the ear and feels the moment.

Thanks my dear Poetess, don't worry about Shakespeare, the real world is NOW, a few of us are changing the current literary landscape, last time I opened a Shakespeare book the dust nearly made me sneeze to death! ;))) Best personal regards, Robert

Robert, beautifully written. Your endnote is also an awesome quote... Keeping things real on the Soup, especially when it come to our Literary Experts contests, when don't win one or even many, know that it is because of their ignorance. Never me, I judge based on my rules and the tools you use. LOL - Sending a smile and a hug! Verlena

Thank you Poetess Verlena, yes, you are truly one of the real people here, I just about laugh my tail off with these clique based contests they run here, also, did you notice the 100 best poems from last month list they email to you, it lists mostly the same poets each month, and there is always APoetDestroyer at or near the Top, so obvious, but she has an appropriate username here, and she told me she doesn't have anything to do with running this site? RIGHT! Best personal regards, Robert
