Notes About The Poem

For the the 'Plagued by Memories' Poetry Contest of Ink Empress

Plagued by Memories

Cursed I am plagued by things of the now: daily physical aggravations for which doctors have given me no cure. Memories can’t afflict me the way my body has been bedeviled by ailments which do not even have a name. I suppose I can say the memory of a physician having injected me four times with a substance that gives some people dire side effects haunts me to this day. Cursed is this world by doctors who are meant to do no harm.

Andrea, I hope you are as well as can be under the circumstances. We certainly need much more research and care in the field of health care. It's a curse when it makes you sick. You do have an indomitable spirit, and please know that your words have an affect on me as I think about the position you are in. It can be very difficult to go forward in peace, but if anyone can....I believe you are very strong and a very giving person.

Thanks so much. Now a new rare thing is happening to me called drop foot. I am limping and cannot hop on my left foot. I will be getting brain scan and lumbar MRI as well. No doubt it is neurological. Everything with me is. Oh happy golden years

Sorry, to know that you are confronted with bodily handicaps.... caused by ill administered medicines. But you seem to take them in a stoic spirit. Wish you better health, dear Andrea! Congratulations on your win.

Dear Andrea, your poem gives powerful testimony to how medical advise given and acted upon in the past can affect your present day to day living. If my body was "bedeviled by ailments which do not even have a name", I do believe the memory of the doc and the injections he gave me would plague me too. My heart goes out to you, my friend. Congratulations for your success in Ink's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Thanks so much. Not everyone has problems with Prolia, but people need to know that side effects happen with lots of different meds and injections. We need to know every possible thing so we can decide for ourselves what to do and I learned that lesson the hard way. There are natural ways to strengthen bones. A good doctor should know what those things are.

For sure. This is why nobody should have any injections mandated. We are all different and react differently to different things

Oh, Andrea, I'm so sorry about the bad injections. I, too was the subject of a theory and a guinea pig of sorts. However, the injector was my daddy--a doctor. I hope doctors can find a solution for you. Not knowing is so hard.

thanks, Ann. I just want people to know how dangerous prolia can be. Some people have no problem with it at all, but others get serious problems. I hope your side effects left you.

- Side effects in the long term can be worse than the disease one is being treated for, Andrea ... terribly tiring ... one can be completely put out :( - GL in the contest :) - hugs

Oh - I do sympathise with you Andrea. That's why I do not go to doctors and am so grateful for good health. The poem sounds like good material for a win. Hugs Maria - I sent you a soup mail.

thanks, I do not like going to them either, but I had had breast cancer, and this was an oncologist telling me I needed Prolia , a fake bone substitute, to offset my estrogen blocker stealing calcium from my bones. Later I found out from a natural doctor that I had never needed the synthetic estrogen blocker anyway. I simply needed to take supplements containing broccoli, so I felt really swindled by that doctor. I wrote him a letter telling him my disappointment and never returned to him. I've nine years later trying to spread this story because even though Prolia has killed people, they keep it on the market and this is despicable to me.

I am sure that the doctor did not know that it would affect you in such an undesirable way. It reads like a good contender for a contest to me. Way to go. Sara K

They all know there are side effects but they don't let you know about the RARE side effects, nor do they care to educate themselves about it. Even after a class action law suit brought by people who lost their teeth and broke bones or jaws due to prolia, that crap remains on the market. There is a better bone strengthener out there, so why Prolia, (which is from china, BTW). It's pathetic to me they still push it at patients.
