Plagued

I see you there
weaving in and out of shadows
flickering like the moon
obscured by thick clouds
hoovering overhead
as the incandescence light
of a new dawn breaks
in crimson streaks
across this sky

I feel your breath
brushing against my ivory flesh
in labored sighs
like a storm's rise
of quickened gusts
and i quiver
within the cold
of fear and death

your name
falls in whispers
behind the masks
of silenced lips
who care not to speak
of your wrath

from bended knees
my hands reach out
in pleas of prayers
hoping to see an end
to this world's despair

many join together
their songs of praise
in hopes to see
a flicker of light
break through the duskiness
of this unmerciful plague
swirling around them
alone they feel defeated
together they feel strength
in one certain belief
'Roses from all nations
 scintillate in complete harmony'

Sandra, the usual power of your poetic skills is multiplied with the power of global unity and harmony. Your quote from Maria's opus was so nicely built towards with an arc of cold gloom and anxiety into music, light, and oneness. Beautifully done! Congrats on the #1. Hugs/John

Thank you Tom... this virus is consuming my mind, hopefully someone finds a cure and ends it soon... the usa already is trying trial vaccines on people but even with that it would be 18 months before it was available... stay safe yourself... hugs

I don't think anyone is happy about this virus but the way the numbers are rising, a. I think it was here before they thought it was, b. I think they need to test people that work around the public that have sore throats and not just reserve the test for people that they know had contact... people are slipping through the cracks and making others sick....stay safe my friend... hugs
