Pinocchio's Pet

Some things may seem very strange
As bizarre as they can get
For example have you heard,
Of a puppet owning a pet?

When I was told, Pinocchio
Had a Woodpecker, I was upset
Him owning a bird seemed absurd
What else could it be but his pet?
