Notes About The Poem

According to fun folklore, you get pinched on St. Patrick's Day for not wearing green because green makes you invisible to leprechauns. Leprechauns are mischievous creatures, and according to legend, they like to pinch people. If you wear green, leprechauns won't be able to see you, so you'll be free of any painful pinching. The tradition of pinching people who don't wear green on St. Patrick's Day began as a reminder of what a leprechaun would do to them should they happen upon one.

Irish tales of what a leprechaun gives away
If you don’t wear green on St Paddy’s Day 
a painful pinch
Like Suisse’s Grinch,
a green tie or  vest so invisible you’ll stay

On St. Paddy's day I grabbed a lassie fair
kissed her lips and pinched her derriere
I so love this tradition
I'm a gent on a mission
Shall I go on I asked, she screamed don't you dare!

My lil green party dress for Paddy’s day is too tight
and I don’t want to get pinched by elves tonight
I let out the seams
And removed all that blings
Clear of Leprechaun’s with a big whiskey appetite

Out on the razzle for Saint Patrick’s night  
All dressed up in green, one has to look right  
I’ll do my high kicks  
As I can’t resist 
Being a dare devil, and giving fright

David Kavanagh March 17, 2025 at 1:01 PM A great set of fun Lims for St Paddy’s day Anaya, or just Paddy’s day as it’s called over here, I’m pretty sure you would love all the mad Irishness that goes on today, alongside half a million people dressed as leprechauns lol! Just dress in green and you fit right in no matter what planet you come from, pinching bottoms might get you in a spot of bother though lol!
