Pieces
(a list poem in rhyming couplets)
Pieces of literature there’s so much of
Pieces of artifacts seen that we love
Pieces of good advice given each day
Pieces of rubbish I just throw away
Pieces of plates in shatters when dropped
Pieces of pie with whipped cream sometimes topped
Pieces of gadgets like gym equipment
Pieces of things in an Amazon shipment
Pieces of recalled conversations once said
Pieces of paragraphs written or read
Pieces of rocks people often have seen
Pieces of grass, so fresh and green
Pieces of knowledge – facts that we know
Pieces of laundry in baskets we throw
Pieces of Tupperware useful to us
Pieces of chewed gum neath seats of a bus!
Pieces of butter I spread on each bun
Pieces of sand glitter under the sun
A piece of my mind (that piece can’t be plural)
Pieces of property – urban or rural
Pieces of mail sent – so over-priced
Pieces of onions chopped well or diced
Pieces of clothing – and some come in pairs
Pieces you hate in your food – such as hairs!
Pieces of cake at weddings a hit
Pieces of furniture on which we sit
Pieces of candy we give to a child
Pieces of puzzles that make me go wild
Pieces of fruit such as apples or melons
Pieces of weaponry used by some felons
Pieces of hardware – such useful things
Pieces we cut such as ropes, tape, or strings
Pieces of cheese that make a great treat
Pieces of meat that folks love to eat
Pieces of jewelry sparkling on me
Pieces of wood that come from a tree
Pieces of bread, named also as slices
Pieces of artwork - some at high prices
Pieces of chicken – so tender the breast
Pieces of pizza I love the best!
Pieces of paper I write my poems on
Pieces of sky that God paints at dawn.
