Pets and Me

Wow even as a kid you never had a pet??? My son use to capture critters in Carolina and beg to keep them as a pet. He had a gecko lizard like thing a turtle a snake which I made him get rid of. So I gave in a got him two ferrets and later a dog. His dad had promised him a pet and never did ANYTHING for him. It broke my heart so I got him a runt of a weenie dog we named Jhat. Jhat is my son’s name backwards TAHJ.

as a child, i lived with so many pets, growing up, i never tried a new adventure with a dog or a cat, may be some fish or bird, your poem is very nice thanks poet

Hi Gershon, after owning three dogs in succession with my late husband and doing a big ouch every time we got a veterinary bill, after my husband passed away and being on Social Security income alone I realized paying medical expenses for a pet was too expensive. My daughter and son-in-law have two dogs who are my “grand dogs.” Great penning here as usual. Shalom :)
