Written during the Cuban Missile Crisis...  This was a challenge poem. A friend suggested the title but nothing else. In this poem the new bogeyman is amoral science that seems like a wonderful friend on one hand while at the same time threatening us with nuclear holocaust on the other hand. This new bogeyman is all the more threatening because of its newness and mankind's lack of a track record in controlling it.
