Peter's Denial
Peter hung on keeping close at hand
“Surely you're one of this Jesus band?”
Trying to hide it
Peter denied it,
“Damn it! I don't even know this man.”
Three times Peter denied Jesus his friend.
At second cock crow he did comprehend
what a failure he'd been.
How could he be so mean?
Bitterly he wept as he felt condemned.
