We are destined to repeat history; wars are nonstop... and the killing goes on. And though little girls are raped and murdered, in life's game of chess, they are but a pawn. In the surreal arena of war, pathos, and drama are drawn out with skill. And generals morph into patriot heroes, hailed for the high numbers they kill. A soldier is fueled by bravado, juxtaposed with devastating despair. Though politicians honor aggression with posthumous medals, the dead don't care. Orphaned children will prostitute themselves and scavenge for food, or else starve to death. And the survivors will demand revenge, cursing the enemy with every breath. Personal tragedies ignite the hate that burns inside hearts like a righteous flame. And it can't be doused by tears spilled walking through rows of tombstones, searching for a name.

Our world is in a sad state because of the awful condition of the human heart without God. This is a thought provoking poem, so well written, as is all your poetry. Thank you for the recent placement.

War is hell and it is unbelievable that we keep having wars and not learning from the past. Your poem brings the pain of war into the raw light where all its ugliness and horror can be seen. Very poignant Emile. Blessings xxoo
