Persistent
There's something inside that just won't quit
A voice in your head "you're not there yet"
Unbound to dying dark or birthing light
Refusing excuses or forgetting's delight
The path reappears after deliberate detours
As if to say you've been here before
And here you'll be, again, and again, and again
Where Self resides and soul's reclaim
Nature's gift wrapped inside
Precious notes singing your spirit's name
Echoes remembered from ages past
Side glimpses caught in shadowed glass
Lasting impressions color each cautious step
Spaces "just between" hold back curtains of regret
With bated breath, eager eyes and open ears
As voice released, letting go useless fears
One last wailing of painful sharps
Reveals harmony buried in persistent hearts.
