Perplexing Truths

The enigma of space elicits awe,
and my soul seeks clarity of being.
For I see true splendor naked and raw
in the relevance of what I'm seeing.
Eternity's lit with ancient starlight;
that cosmic glow's still visible today.
And gazing at these twinkling lights at night
I marvel at these stars, so far away.
Man treads upon the earth with timid feet,
fearing death and what lies beyond the grave.
And religion's suddenly bitter-sweet
as you morph into a religious slave.
Sentient beings question existence,
asking if insignificant souls count.
For perplexing truths offer resistance
in identifying sins to surmount.
Starlight piercing the darkness consoles
me as I ponder these thoughts in my mind.
And like feeling at home comforts lost souls,
the light of creation lets faith roam blind.
