Permission

I want to touch her ebony skin To luxuriate in the depth of her storm Those dark brown eyes hypnotize me granting me the courage to approach Now I can participate in her masquerade For she binds my hands with golden suture I have no fear of death or her instruments of pain I long to feel her slice deep into my flesh The sting of her whip peels back my opaque veneer Beneath my skin a crimson passion flows She drinks until I become intoxicated I watch as she swallows my darkness Only then does she grant me permission to touch her! Hi Richard, another wonderful write from your pen. This is indeed deep and dark. This is so well written my friend. A few meanings can be taken from this write but whatever meaning taken, this piece has been written with such skill. Their is a dignity and grace within the write. Whew! You went Skywalker dark on us w/this one, Richard. But I know the poetic force is w/you still. Lol! Very kinky undertones, but the dark love was felt in every line. Great write, raw and gritty. Keep shaking us up w/your pursuit of truth. Love always, bro.

Wow, Rick, I love the way you did this, it's very good. I read your comments below, and first of all, I don't think you pushed the bounds of good taste at all, this is written in good taste! It pushes the bounds of deep dark feelings, which is awesome. Especially after reading your comment to Akkina, I see the deeper meaning within this. "I long to feel her slice deep into my flesh" - that is a great line, among many. Well done. Gosh I've missed reading your poems.

wow, this is such an amazing entry, Richard. I wish I could have redone my original poem to make it this tight. Once I realized I rhymed instead of used free verse, I had to do it all over again and could not recapture the same quality. This one HAS a great mood!!

Thanks Akkina, part of the message is an atonement for the slavery of African people. Until we know their pain and suffering we will not be granted the figurative right and permission to touch them in a meaningful way.
