It’s the fifth of November; Bonfire Night is finally here The guy is set alight, oh how the little children cheer Smoke billows, flames dance, tiny faces are aglow We eat hot chestnuts; munching them with great gusto Mummy gives me a sparkler it burns with a dazzling light Sparks fly like liquid silver, they are wondrous sight Such a kaleidoscope of colours light up the evening sky A rocket blooms like a chrysanthemum way up high Golden sparks stream as the catherine wheels spin Hear the cracker jack explode; their noise makes such a din Fireworks illuminate the sky, the crowd gasps with delight The display ends in a crescendo on this gala Guy Fawkes night Penny for the guy Contest Sponsored by Shadow Hamilton 11~01~16

I was reading a few poems on this topic, I am thinking this must be a UK thing, as I failed to get the meaning! :) Maybe one more glass of wine will help!

Gosh, you transported me back when I wasn't expecting it Jan. Guy is not so celebrated in Ireland, but I have just revisited the catherine wheel leaving a black mark on our scullery wall. Thank you for that.

I had to research Guy (Guido) Fawkes to understand this one, oh those Roman Catholic English activists trying to blow Parliament, sounds like a good enough reason for a bonfire! :)

I wonder how many Britons are there who would like to imitate Guy's action and have results at the same time. A fabulous write dear, Jan, but should there be a note at the bottom explaining what is all about for the not well informed like me? Haha! A seven my dear!
