Penitent

If I should wake to live another day my soul would surely burst with boundless joy. On pious knee I would fervently pray, repentant soul would actively deploy. A full day of blessèd atonement wide, a soul on mission to pay its penance. Rapidly strolling with refreshing stride, repentance on recent fair countenance. A purposeful action of ascesis, my heart would be uplifted from its shame. A length of golden thread from Lachesis exonerating my well-deserved blame. Freed from infernal Hell I gladly die, blissful smile as my soul ascends the sky.

Real beauteous sonnet of contrition, Linda. The last two lines especially moving. God's blessings to you. ~

Do we atone during our life, or do we wait till the end is nearing, and the grave diggers are getting restless? I'm exonerating you if you give me a reference to the upstairs cloud.

Hey Paul Smiling here. I am hoping I wouldn't have to atone for any serious breaking of the rules toward the End. :)

wow, Linda! This is an amazing write. Title was perfect and I appreciate the Lachesis--quite effective. The act of repentance is powerful resulting in the uplifting last two lines..."as soul ascends the sky.' Nicely written. Have a blessed evening, hugs, Sara
