Penguin Feeder

In the backyard I built a penguin feeder In the hopes of becoming a breeder But I have yet to spot A penguin on my lot So I hired an aquatic cheerleader At first she attracted a duck and a wren So I quickly built a large penguin pen But after ten days I sent her away When she only drew in, fishy smelling men

Very funny, David. I really enjoyed the poem with its surprise ending. True creativity! The penguins really missed out. Best wishes, Brian

Ha!! Ha!! Aren't penguins just so cute. I guess in some areas of the world they could be coaxed to come to a feeder. Thanks for sharing this one with us. Sara K

Hello David, your hilarious "Penguin Feeder" had me giggling! The absurdity of backyard penguin aspirations, escalating solutions, and fishy-scented mishaps is pure comedic gold. Your dry wit and unexpected turns are delightful, leaving me wanting more adventures from your creative mind. Thank you for the laugh! - Blessings, Daniel

Thanks so much Daniel. Hopefully our muse keeps the spigot open, and that we take the time to put it all together.

LOL, David. I was thinking you might live in Alaska. That was one very funny limerick. Kudos! Where do you live? State or country if not U.S.A. Bill

Thanks Bill, for your thoughts. I think I'm far from penguin country in inland CT. But it can't hurt to try new things.

So recently I discovered a penguin of sorts, who spends the breeding season in the top or redwoods of course. And the rest of their time is spent at sea , and for the longest time to science they were a mystery indeed. For they did not know how they nested. Look up Marbled Murrelets. They are black and white while at sea, and then molt into browns as camouflage while nesting. And they fly 90 miles an hour into those trees. ( quite the miracles. And of course endangered.

That's quite a bird, Susan. I'll have to check them out. Fact beats fiction.

A cute limerick. It's difficult to attract penguins when they fail to fly, but fun to try.

Yes, it would be fun to try, but maybe I'll stick to robins.

Thanks, Gershon. We got to have dreams, even if they're for the birds.
