Notes About The Poem

(Entry for This Acrostic or That Acrostic Poetry Contest, submitted August 7, 2024 - Third Place)

Peacespeaker

Perhaps there are times when we should pay close attention.
Each day I look and sense growing apprehension.
An uneasy tension grows in the collective mind.
Can we please go back to when things were not so maligned?
Eventually, the pendulum has to shift
So that we are reminded that life is still the most precious gift.
Please Lord, bring peace and drive away the gathering storm.
Every day, let us hear Your words of love to help us transform,
And calm down the tempests; make the world safe and less forlorn.
Kindness and mercy are in short supply it seems,
Especially now we need Your serene message while following our dreams.
Reassure us with Your words, and in this crazy world feel free to intervene!

This was pretty cool as you opened describing a problem and closed with a prayer, or at least prayer sounding language. If kindness and mercy were not in short supply this world would be a better place to live. Your last line is spot on with what we as a society needs. Congrats on your win in my contest.
