We're at a place in history right now-
perhaps, where we have never been before;
our nation, so divided, to allow
this breakdown of established laws- abhor
the rules our founding fathers did implore
for protests- without looting, burning down
the property of businesses- that frown
on losing the police to deter crime.
Some disappoint- but most deserve renown;
kept order through a former, calmer time.
How can these leaders turn a blinded eye
to this destruction that their cities take?
Just let it happen- simply to imply
all rules these days are now okay to break.
They never think beyond- such a mistake
to not protect the rights of city folk
caught in the fray with no one to invoke-
who only wish to live their lives- to share
in liberty and peace- and shed this cloak
of fear! But no- they now confront despair.
