Notes About The Poem

The form here is a Word Prism (created by the author) consisting of four concise 3-line stanzas on these topics:

1. Meaning => Not a dictionary definition, but a meaning that arises indirectly through implication, sensation, felt experience, and emotional responses.

2. Sound => Mouth-feel and response to the ear and mind, when heard or read; including its cadence, rhythm and resonance

3. Appearance => Color, Form, Shape and Texture - literal, typographic, linguistic or imagined.

4. Emotions, Feelings and Experiences => How the word has affected the writer.

PEACE - A Word Prism

Is a moment
when nothing inside argues
with the way it is, it's as is.

It opens softly—
a breath easing from a grip,
a hushed gush the mouth trusts.

Pale misty early morning light,
water smoothing over stones,
space wide enough to let in and receive.

It arrives unannounced,
while walking besides trees or shorelines—
and stays, if we stop chasing it.
