Patterns of Pain

Pausing to breathe before falling
into patterns of pain.
Synapses fire with memories
materialized from tissue.

Why pain?
Where IS sorrow in the grey matter
and why does it matter
this pattern to relive pain?

Look at it and let it be
a groove in the layer that folds
under the place that moves a pen.

Stay away from the when of then,
be in the now of a sunny day.
Don't go that old yesterday way.
Yet here in this now it appears.

Right brain, left brain, brain left to cry
and sob within. Who cries? Who sighs?
Laughter swells up to cover
while pain does hover
like a checkerboard
waiting to be crowned.

What a marvelous read from a blessed paged built on lines constructed with the lyrics of the skies and words well supported by dynamic foamy clouds. Message well expressed! No doubt an absolute 7##.

A wonderful, expressive, and introspective write. I love it. Sometimes I begin to wonder about what words actually mean..."Pain" ..."Sorrow"...how do we know which is which? Always, Farah

...If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you...(RK) wonderful words from Kipling that express an idea of pain, but not better than the above. Great write! Dan C ps. Your comment on my Haiku was appreciated and interesting, but I feel that a day is part of nature...therefore not a Senyru.

Pain...dreadful. Excellent write loaded with feelings that I understand all too well. By the way, I am going to try to start commenting again. I have just been too weepy these past three months…commenting became difficult. I do enjoy reading your wonderful poetry, though. And I appreciate you. Thanks for understanding. God be with you and keep up the excellent writing. Lovingly, Dane Ann

... & man's soul seemeth suited in sorrow's ceremony than in the coronation of joy ... that's one of our vanities, our shining faults, nay! our nibbling & reticent sicknesses ... our world could have gone much up-wards, with showers of merry-visaging! o, Sue, I join your sue for happiness … keep fit! Canny
