Rather than pick a language, this is a poem in two, French and English, both different , both saying the same thing!

I sit on a chair
The chair is by the table
The table is against the wall
On the wall is a clock
The clock goes tic toc
As surely as time passes
I, do not move
The chair does not move
The table does not move
The wall just stands there holding up the clock
A bookcase on the other side of life, there full of knowledge
Useless in the antiquity of stagnation
As we are all one, object and man
Not one of us moving
Except for the clock
Tic toc

Passage du temps
L'horloge
Le bruit du silence
Noyade dans la tranquillité
En solo
Parmi tous mes livres
Mort chante à mon oreille

As time passes the more we change . . . but the more we change the more we are the same . . . instead of rock and clubs, we now have bullets and bombs. I am not sure that time heals all wounds but I hear the Tic Toc . . .

Very interesting!! I like the contrast between man and object, especially the reversal of the object/clock moving while you are still. And that very dark last line in French! Chills down my spine. (By the way, it is always nice to see a fellow Canadian on here!)

Ironic that with all the knowledge man prides on having gained, it is nil in the eternal perspective of Time. What is man's existence but just a hairbreadth compared to eternity...

Thanks Charmaine, you made me think, with all the conflict in the world, time is the real enemy! :) Hugs

Beautiful. In the end, time endures. not one of us moving except for the clock tick toc...there is so much more to your poem than just the words. Deeper into the meaning, duality language, this is art at it's finest. what seems as a simple chair gleams the golden trim of knowledge that we are all one.
