Oh, if it were only more
More than just part-time
For I have found a refuge, rare
A peaceful spot in a world of wonder
A world that is my own, and what I make it
Delightful or dark, delirious or dream-woven, dandy or dire
I dance into it, spinning, on the crimped hem of my imagination
Sometimes, tumble in on a wave of chaos, emotive
Tossed ragged onto shores of consternation
Oft' it overtakes me, smack in the midst of the commonplace
And much less often, within the rarest gems of superfluous moments
It flows a river, mystic and marvelous, and drenches me in its cool
This world of mine is ever-changing and dynamic
Sculpted from the rough marble of word and phrase and idea
And shaped into whatever I desire
There is no limit to its boundaries or borders
Its horizons stretch to the colors of inspiration, notion, wit
Skies daubed with the fluff of fancy, or weeping madness
The sleepiest heavens shimmering above, the conflagrate hells below
A child's wishes, a bat of lustful lashes, horror and happiness
It all moves and transforms at my will
And breathes from the point of a pen - the tap of a key
If only ... if only ... if only
It could last.
