Parents and Child Reunion As Adults

Fledging child grows to unlatch
    to turn back on parents, to find own way.
Child's hand uncupped, snapped away, rebellious.
But in time, parents and child reunite
    as adults with a different relationship,
    with mutual respect for independence.
Though parents still cherish the child, as child.
