Paradox

lays on her grave guilt
never in life such a gift
these her first flowers
when in the time to wither
memories will die also

Sadness showers down with loss. Memory, too, crumbles. Your submissions, Harry, give thought its power. Be well. Brian

This is why I am conflicted when I get fresh flowers - while they are momentarily beautiful, their death is a wound also - very eloquent and layered, harry~

How terribly sad - in the time that it takes for the flower to wither, she will become a lost memory and even more sad, is that these were her first ever flowers she received , o her grave! Excellent poetry. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Much to gleam from your measured words, Harry--you shine in brevity. Wishing you the very best in 2021.
