Paper Roses

She sat amongst the paper roses
He left them there for her
To gather once the sun went down
To smell when he was gone

Immortalized in paper
No sorrow here to show
She smiled and read the messages
Once moonlight had lit the sky

Oh Paper Roses
What do they say
Oh Paper Roses
Come back come what may

The night is ours once more
He just finished playing guitar
Laying paper roses
To keep the fire aglow

Oh Paper Roses
What do they say
Oh Paper Roses
Come back come back what may

Hi Gail, Beautiful song-like poem. Sounds like a very sweet relationship. - Gail
