It was always the little things
that caught her eye —
the carnation crispness of a hello on a tired suit lapel ...
A gentle smile exchanged for shoddy service
given with a frown
Yes, it was the exquisite details
that mattered the most
The small pearls ...
wisdom
gathered
from the baptism of life
Deep water hidden gems
emerging to the surface
Then patiently caught by her
keen dove eyes
She loved witnessing liquid joy,
bathing her senses in fine granular things
Pure white mixture ... sugar and salt,
sweet enduring charity
A delicate rose persevering in the harsh elements
was a crystalline sight to savor ... saline petals of such earthy flavor
She knew that small acts of kindness can leave
an indelible mark on famine souls for a lifetime
The grace of humanity falling
from open twin windows
Her daily confessional cries to the heavens
was drenched in melting snowflakes of awe and wonder:
She loved how the algae
nourished the whales in the sea,
how mustard seeds grew into great trees
These tiny things warmed her spirit
like a refreshing tropical breeze
And her giant heart cherished how the small strokes
of little things
painted such a grand portrait of shared humanity
A beautiful panoramic view
She loved observing the simple subtleties of life ...
generously always on display,
revolving around people everyday
Seasons changing in sacred increments
She thanked God
for serving this to us in small portions —
our daily manna given by the omer
