Welcome to Palestine; The land of the Prophets and the Martyrs.
The focus on my talk is two-fold today:
- I will start with 5 verses from Surah Isra of the Noble Quran which talks about the Children of Israel and their corruption in the land. Something that may seem relatable to all of us in the present times.
- Then I will read a poem that I have written (It is called, “Welcome to Palestine: The land of the prophets and the Martyrs.”) which I believe highlights what has been and is going on in Palestine, especially in Gaza, and I will leave it to your judgment, to decide whether or not you are able to connect to it and find it relatable.

And We warned the Children of Israel in the Scripture, “You will certainly cause corruption in the land twice, and you will become extremely arrogant.
When the first of the two warnings would come to pass, We would send against you some of Our servants of great might, who would ravage your homes. This would be a warning fulfilled.
Then ?after your repentance? We would give you the upper hand over them and aid you with wealth and offspring, causing you to outnumber them.
If you act rightly, it is for your own good, but if you do wrong, it is to your own loss. “And when the second warning would come to pass, your enemies would ?be left to? totally disgrace you and enter that place of worship as they entered it the first time, and utterly destroy whatever would fall into their hands.
Perhaps your Lord will have mercy on you ?if you repent?, but if you return ?to sin?, We will return ?to punishment?. And We have made Hell a permanent confinement for the disbelievers.”

Edward Said (A famous Palestinian-American Academic and Political Activist) once said, "You cannot continue to victimize someone else just because you yourself were a victim once—there has to be a limit."
It is an obligation upon every rightly minded and normal human being to speak about Palestine, for Palestine, and In Favor of Palestine..
Those are some of the guiding principles and moral values we have heard this country was built upon… If that is the case, picking the right side and being on the right side of history should be as crystal clear and familiar as the STAR SPANGLED BANNER is to every proud American!.
