Pale Shelter

You had such a hold on me I lived your truths Sacrificing my own You withheld love For what reason? Anticipating what outcome? I do not need your approval My love for you is not contingent On whether or not you know how to show me unconditional love Because I understand that to heal myself I need to reach out with the first olive branch. I am reaching out to claim you at this second. Written 11-4-2019 Poetry Contest: Pale Shelter Sponsor: John Hamilton

Wonderful poem Caren that in the midst of pain you found healing. I love the line "I lived your truths" juxtaposed with "to heal myself." Congratulations.
