Pair of Canaries
PAIR OF CANARIES
Gilt twins winging
Through sunlight streams
In their window at home
Filling their golden yellow days.
Spring and swing
A tiny jump not far from the other
Bounce along the perch, follow close,
And neck rubs neck.
Twittering their timeless melodies
Through the window from their world
Of wires and mirrors glittering
Light music in the sun.
Sharing water and seed,
Preening a feather together,
Beaks clicking in concatenation,
Sleeping heads tucked under wings.
Entwined golden souls, each
Caring for a canary.
A flutter of hearts and wings
A lifetime flight.
