Emotional Shrapnel Contest

Your recent reveal was a sad steal of all I knew. My memory now bleeds severely making days blue. My world shattered and scattered across the floor. Something dying is out loud crying aching and sore. Your truth so grilling it is piercing the past I saw. Now that I am bruised by your news I am plain raw. Feeling a fragile head from words said I’m torn apart. No light to lend so darkness will bend and ease my heart. I will long mourn this unwanted thorn that makes me cry. I must ride the storm then wake some morn with my eyes dry. I need healing so I am willing to see tears gone. Accepting plight to put thoughts aright I must play strong. I accept what I cannot reject for I love you. Not knowing truth would alter my youth your story flew. Nothing to gain by showing my pain so I hushed true. Explanation of revelation will not ease me. You had a need to stop your own bleed to set hurt free. Never will you meet the strain of pain for me, not thee.

Sounds very painful, but it you seem to be able to process it well. I guess poetry helps with that.

Love how the tail ends rhyme, you are sharing such personal memoirs, love that wasn't meant as we thought, universal and i can resonate as well. It also makes me want to now more of what he has revealed--and it makes you so brave and i adore that. Bol ~ xhugs

It was a SHE, one I call Mom, thus the line, "knowing the truth would alter my youth ..." The contest made me recall a night in 1999 when she broke my child, teenage and adult heart. Thank you, Anaya, for the affectionate and concerned comments. You're right, we can't assume our view of someone's feel for us is their reality, not until we truly know them. CayCay

Honey, I am a very joyous, upbeat person who has, indeed, been thru much, but I'm sure I agreed to every pain I've evolved thru. I am very spiritual and have held God's hand since a wee one. I am good. I wrote this from a memory I recorded in my journal in 1999. I'm okay. A lot of what you read the other day is from the past, and some was pure fiction. I have always walked into my pain that I will grow. Be golden, Paige ... CayCay

How deeply moving and emotive is your poem, i felt the emotions flowing throughout this and i can resonate with so many lines in this! I especially love the lines “ I must ride the storm then wake some morn with my eyes dry. I need healing so I am willing to see tears gone.” i hope for those tears to be gone too! And yes sometimes when its stormy we just need to ride it out! Pleasure reading you today! Iv been thinking of you! So happy to see you back and posting! Sending you light poetic soul

I thought you had abandoned me. I had a POTD: Revenge of the Raven which is definitely not romantic and I can assure you I will be posting poems which I label dark. I loved your poem. So vivid and glad I read it. Returning your poetry hugs.

Your bright, compelling poetry uses powerful emotional imagery. While "hushed truth" and "unwanted thorn" show that complexity, "bleeds," "shattered," "weeping," and "bruised" express great grief and pain. Contrasting imagery, such as "bright" and "darkness," makes your poetry more emotive.
