There the ancient stones and the pyramids just survey the ancient Egyptian Roman and Greek temples All their thoughts guidance gone now a crumbling magnificence Leaving us worshiping illiterate beggars Mohammed and Jesus Leaving us the fruit of their labour nothing but foolish dreams and the gun

Dear Nigel, it is our own fault that the "fruit of their labour." The violence in our own society is frightening. We see it everywhere. In my heart I seek to keep their "guidance" alive, but your astute observations are poignantly described in this thought provoking poem. Well done! Hugs, Carolyn
