P-C Numbers Thirty-nine AND FORTY

                                              P.C. # 39
                                              =======

                         Out in the Ranch I'm-a wranglin' words,

                               Though the cattle are gone,

                                          Not a one herd

                      The lowing and whispering wind in the sage

                      Blows softly a new year, another new page

                       I chased the challenge, and I did my best

                        Under the stars in the heart of the West

                   My cowboy said "Ride," so I mounted my steed

                       Chasing the wind as I galloped with speed.

                      I'm nearing the end of this exhausting ride

                         I smile, my cowboy is right by my side

                                            P.C. # 40
                                            =====

                          Changing seasons on the Ranch

                              The Paloverdes pruned

                       But some things, like true lovin' hearts

                               Are always finely tuned

                           From the settlin' in this place

                   The warmth of smiles and love's embrace

                            The desert dust is settling

                              I tie my horse to post

                     And click my heals and raise my cup

                                    To poetry I toast!

                         My muse is near, she takes a bow

                   All through this night we've galloped through

                           I kiss my darling cowboy's head

                   Let's grab some grub, Cowboy, nuff' said

                          THE END YEEEEEHAWWWW!!!!!!!

                      Happy New Year in nineteen minutes!

"My cowboy said "Ride," so I mounted my steed Chasing the wind as I galloped with speed. I'm nearing the end of this exhausting ride I smile, my cowboy is right by my side" Love these lines dear BJ. Thus, you have been undertaking a challenging ride. You have almost reached the finishing point. Now you can take a break and bask in the sunshine of the completion of your great Odyssey. You and your 'cow boy' together can celebrate this victory! WONDERFUL !

Thank you Evelyn! It was certainly a different way to bring in the New Year than I have ever done so before. I'm glad you like the poem, and the last two lines are by far my favorite too, I was finally done! I hope you are having a wonderful beginning to your new year. I am hoping to spend more time on the site this year, even if I don't write as often. I do hope I will be inspired to write again, without a challenge such as the one I finished up as 2024 ebbed. I do want to read others poetry and it is wonderful to be able to read a bit and simply relax. Happy New Year to you and your family :) I hope you are blessed in the year ahead with all goodness, joy and health <3

I was so thrilled to actually have a little bit of time to spare, I didn't think that I was going to be able to finish the challenge. We have often had family over in the past to bring in the new year. We use to make fun little noise makers, there would be a movie on, just having fun. This year we were sick with a flu, and didn't plan anything. My husband was watching a video or playing solitaire and encouraging me as I typed away. I slept in on New Years Day :)

Hello! Thank you for coming over and reading, you are so sweet Deb :) That was a hard challenge! Here it is the third of January and I haven't written anything in the new year. Anyway, I am glad the challenge is over. We celebrated our New Year Day at a little restaurant and had a delicious Mexican food dinner, my favorite :) Congratulations on your grandbaby! I am so excited to have read your poem and of your joy! I will welcome a granddaughter in February! We are so excited! Hugs to you my friend. We'll see if I manage to be on here more in 2025, I do hope to be, lest hubby launch me into a new challenge ;) Happy New Year! <3

We have been married for forty-seven years, and we have stuck it out through thick and thin in all those years. This was our 48th Holiday season just passed! Thank you for your visit and wonderful comment Sotto. I hope your new year ahead is absolutely blessed with wonderful joys, peace and poetry :)

Thank you Beryl :) This was a fun challenge project that I am glad he encouraged me to accept. We really don't have too many adventures beside what a big family can present. Last year meeting headlong challenges as we continued to get home projects done, and helping with some major projects in the grown kids' lives. He knew I'd felt bad about losing the muse, to write amid the challenges left only ten poems on site last year. Well, now there are quite a few more. I feel better about fifty poems in '24 than ten, thanks to this challenge :) We had a nice dinner at a restaurant to celebrate New Year and this accomplished challenge last night, and it was so lovely. Thank you for your visits and comments. Happy New Year! May we all resolves to make more time for fun and personal passions in 2025 :)

I love the old American West, have read tons of books about it and it's inspired many poems I've written. My favourite author was Louis Lamour. I bet you feel like you're running a marathon BJ and you're heading for gold, well done. Tom

You rode along as I did this entire challenge Tom, and have been so encouraging through it all, thank you so much! Happy New Year! My husband likes Louis Lamour as well, and I know that his dad was a huge fan of the author. There is still a lot to see in the wide deserts, I hope you and your wife can come and see it sometime. I love it, except for the summers. I doubt anyone loves our summer.
