Own It - the Realest Parts of Me
Owning the darkest parts of myself
The me that I never let out
Trapped little girl, buried deep
Under my false, pretentious, pretty girl exterior
Her name is Depression
Bi-Polar, Borderline Personality
This inner self pulls me into the dark and twisty night
To a place where no light shines through
Cold, empty loneliness
A place where we barely eat
We watch the flood flow from our flesh
My sad inner self and my fake happy outer shell
Fighting, battling for control
Stay hidden depression
No one wants to see your deformed face
Everyone wants rainbows and sunshine
Not dark, thunderous rain
Smile
Be the pretty girl you are supposed to be
Happy, sweet, enigmatic
Be proud of who you are
Embrace your flaws and your secret side.
But how can you be proud of your truth
How do you love the part of you that you keep hidden
When the darkest parts of you
Are the parts that scare you the most?
