Out of Gethsemane
We had ears to hear, but did not comprehend ---
We had eyes to see, but did not understand ---
Our Lord told us all about what was prophesied to be ---
That He would be betrayed, arrested and killed for us to see ---
Even Peter challenged our Rabbi and claimed this could not be --
Jesus rebuked him and then pronounced, Satan get behind me ---
At our last passover meal, we celebrated in a different way ---
The Christ gave us wine and broke bread,
then told Judas to earn his pay ---
In the garden we fell asleep, Jesus woke us three
times that night ---
On the final time He woke us, armed guards came into our sight ---
After a brief skirmish, they led our Lord out of Gethsemane ---
Then we scattered in all directions, as our Master said it would be.
