Our Hidden Link

In many a wood
Covering the American countryside
Their lives a link
In hidden reside

Taller than man
With features of old
Black hairs cover
This naked and bold

Shy but alert
They know their surround
Modern man
And how we sound

More and more
We close in on their space
In their forest of green dark
Its truly their place

What will man do
When he drives them out
Into a world unknown
Their world without

Will we have the compassion
To leave them alone
Or destroy their existence
And leave them dethroned

Great poem, I like how it refers to what man will do. The track record isn't to good. Thanks for your comments on The heart I never had before.

This reminds me of that movie several years ago about when some Christians went into the Amazon jungles, something like that. THey showed the real Indian guy after he was transported to the US. He did ok here, but still missed his native land. A nice write about it, James. Well, I gotta get out of here now, but hope to be back here soon to read MORE great poems and check out the winners of that love writing contest! Andrea

There is definitely a link between man and all of life as you implied, James. If we don't replenish the earth by conserving and caring, we, too will become an endangered species. Earth functions because all of its life forms perform the task for which they were created. And we, humans, enjoy. But God commanded, ...replenish... Excellent topic and poem. Lovingly, Dane Ann

Actually I think I got it wrong. Could be about animals. Gee. What is it? Will you put an end to my puzzlement? Puzzled Caroline. :)

The way you wrote this, which is really well written, sounded actually mysterious to me and kept me puzzled. Took me a moment to realize what was that hidden link. Then the forest came into view, so to speak. :) Oftentimes when I see the amount of paper we consume, I wonder how many trees have been cut down. Thanks for sharing your view and thank you for your kind comments on my poems today. Do you have supervision by chance? :)) Just kidding! Had to throw that in. Caroline.

Absolutely wonderful write about the problem which is spreading all over the world. As in the name of development we are eliminating those who are living in forests or in Jungles since ages. We have no right to dethrone them. The theory of live and let live is not their discovery it was formed by us. Great poem and wonderful theme you took to bring it in lime light. thanks. I have placed a new love story long poem the boatman's Songs Hope you would like it. Love Ravindra

Truth or myth? I'm still on the fence, James. This poem does make you think about how they must feel about the encroachment on their turf! Excellent job, as usual, Highlander! Thank you much for reading and leaving your kind comments on my poems! Peace and love, Audrey

WOWWWWW!!! Look out, Bigfoot, James is stomping the swamps seeking you out! Awesome writing, my friend, and all of God's creatures deserve to be left to pursue a better life than man can offer by his interference. Well done! Love, Carolyn

Mr. Fraser,... this poem put a lump in mine throat ! How aweful it is to ponder,...what man would do with the knowledge that another of God's creatures may be residing among us. The probing ,.. I'm going to stop even thinking about this,..I'll just pray for the safety and solice of all God's souls,...great thought provoking poem James ! james

Do you really think we'd leave them alone under the wilderness's cover? Do you really think we'd let them live and let live if they were to be discovered? I doubt it very highly. Look how horrible we treat each other. Great Piece James. Best Wishes Always, Bill

Great write, James. They're killing our forests for greed and making homes we can't afford. It's an aweful situation. Thanks for reminding us.

Hi James, I'm having fun with this! My imagination is running wild! Keep writing and I'll keep reading! Awesome rhyme too that really has a natural feel and flow, you make it look so easy but we all know it's not. You ought to be writing children's books! Love Light Patty

Could this be the creature big foot that you write about here? Or is it some other unknown animal? Or could it be that black panther that some say they see around here from time to time? Open ended rhyme that leaves lots of questions. Keep us on our toes with the work in Rhyme. Sara
