Our Garden

Just sitting out on the veranda, Shaded from the heat of the day, Watching the birds going to and fro, Each landing and picking food to go. In the Almond tree they alight, A peck or two then back in flight. Lizards scamper across the hot ground, Fearful of being dinner I'll be bound. They all come to drink, one and all, Refreshing sips from the waterfall. The butterflies flutter by, so many I've seen, Bees come for nectar to take to their Queen. Down below the ants scurry always busy by day, When night time comes they are all tucked away. Cicadas drone somewhere in the trees, I sit and watch this daily routine play out. A fox barks somewhere out after dark. A Scops owl sends out it's eerie hoot The play carries on 24 hours a day, The daily scene of the hunter and prey. The plants and the workers each day do I see, I enjoy God's creation, laid out just for me. © Dave Timperley 16 May 2017
