Our First Kiss

All these dark and secret places only I have known and explored. The hidden other-world of lips and teeth and tongue. Mine alone for these many years. The tastes, both bitter and sweet. The feel of my mouth, the sensitive swollen softness of my bottom lip between a gentle bite. I scrape it along my teeth. Hidden in plain sight, a constant awareness in the back of my mind. So busy, in motion, often habitual. Then two worlds meet… I taste your lips, their texture and shape. Flashes of lightning track from the tip of your pink tongue through my core. I am aware of my womb for the only time it has known pleasure instead of pain as a sweet tension and ache begins there. A million nerves come alive as the muscle in my mouth twists and licks, getting to know your smile from behind your teeth. We dance in this inner world, the most intimate communication I've ever known. How very strange it is to desire someone else's spit! I shake my baffled head at this but, yes, let me sip at that sweet nectar like a little hummingbird… as I hummmm…

I love reading poetry and I love writing poetry, but even more than this, I love to feel it. My vocabulary isn't vast and I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed so I rely on my feelings and for me, poetry is feeling. This was beautifully penned, but even more, I could really feel it!

That's one of the best compliments I've ever had, thank you! I feel the same way...I often have to look up definitions of words i read and that is one form of talent, to be able to write with such an array of knowledge and vocabulary. But you're right, to feel the emotion in a poem is another talent. Thank you for commenting! Xo

Dear Crystol, I just read your poem, and wow, it took my breath away! Literally! Oh' the intimacy of that first kiss is so beautifully raw, real and funny. I could feel every sensation you described with the sweetness, the tension, the strange joy of connection. How transformative those moments can be. Keep writing your incredible truths—they're a gift to everyone who reads them. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

It is pretty weird when you think about it. Germs abound lol. Still, it is one of the most pleasant types of communication humans engage in. You describe it well Crys
