Other One and a Half Percent of the Time

I do not slither quietly under rocks
Unassuming and older, sure
Those who misjudge me
Rarely do it a second time

I am flexible, pliable, eager to please
Ninety-eight and half percent of the time
It is the other one and a half percent
That surprises you, sometimes taking a bite.
