Good for you. It's funny or maybe not that I view school as prison in some sense. Freedom is much better.

I relate to this poem. The girls in my high wore uniforms. Shedding the uniforms is an act of breaking free.

I went to two different Catholic schools. The second uniform had some blue, a little nicer. The first was too gray…ho hum.

Dear Kim, Your poem stopped me in my tracks. The imagery is so real. But it's the raw emotion that truly captured me. The feeling of being ostracized for being different, of yearning to break free is something I deeply connect with. At some point, we all have felt the pressure to conform, to suppress our unique selves. Your poem captures that struggle so powerfully, and the triumphant ending – "showed them, showed them all / I could take off my uniform" I Loved it! - Blessings, Daniel

I read reports of nuns and unfortunately, priests, who create their personal catechism menu. Disgraceful.

Organized religion is not necessarily spiritually correct. Living a life of service to others with an intention of loving for the heart is honorable, regardless of the name of one's religion. Being who you feel the spirit within wants you to be is more important than following rules. Smiles ~ Blessings, Kim. Bill

Funny the things you remember…having your creativity curtailed.

I don't know. The older I get, the better nuns look. ~ Mr. Twenty/Twenty

LOL…well, I did have a sweet great-aunt that became a nun at 14 years old.

I can’t imagine how hard that must have been. This poem gives insight and perspective thanks.

hooray for tossing out the monotone gray and finding your poetic 'enunciaton.' What a fabulous feeling to have moved past that...a statement of her personal fortitude. Liked: habitual fashion sense--that was creative and brilliant, hugs, Sara

I understand the regime of the nuns could be quite brutal, you have risen far above it and banished the grey and bring sunshine into our lives with your wonderful words:-) hugs jan xx

Gotta love stanza 2 Kim it’s sheer genius, (habitual fashion sense) but I read further into this one as a whole, a lot of people mostly women have been ostracised and worse by nuns in the past, whilst being indoctrinated by catechisms, hopefully these unfortunate souls can find their own path now without coercion, cheers David

The schooling was good but… boy sent to principal - head banged against the doorway, don’t touch another nun’s robe…worse for mom who endured the ruler against the knuckles. Oh my!
