I hoped to write about the loneliness inside a poets mind when contemplating what to write. This write is sort of meant to be entirly from inside the mind.

No parents, no brothers, no sister, no thing, He’s alone with no place and no home, Walking along the path to nowhere, Abandoned to wander and roam, Longing for the things the other folks say, To the words of love they each share, To the sounds of belonging that eludes his whole life, Leaving him full of despair, So, he picks himself up, focuses his mind, Straightens the shoes on his feet, Then keeps on his walk from one town to the next, Walking the line on the street, And he survives on ideas from his heart every day, He survives with a strike off the flint, He survives with the poems he recites in his mind, Leaving a magic footprint.

I almost cried as a 'collage' of movies about loners as seen by me and songs about loners as heard by me, topped with stories read by me all compiled to drop tears again from my eyes. Even Neil Diamond's Shiloh. Wow, this touched a place in me that's been with me since my beginning. All the best ... CayCay

Thank you CayCay, the funny thing is that when i began writing this it was just about feeling lonely in the world but by the third stanza i thought to change it to just about inside a poets mind, so oops, and yep. i'm glad u enjoyed this write :)

I read the preface afterward and I'm glad I didn't see it first because it completely altered the meaning your poem meant me - though both are profound. I really enjoyed the feel, though on the sad side, that it gave me. Just fyi, just talking here

Very nicely composed Lewis, i think all poets have taken similar walks....through their minds....
