I’ll meet you halfway set fire to both ends Kiss you in stasis as our world upends God it feels so good when balance transcends Separated yes the crossing’s now ash Lost due to movement and one lonely splash Our love abridged? No devilishly rash

Good man Christopher great to hear from you, the sabbatical certainly served its purpose, hopefully I’m also serving some purpose in this world, I honestly wonder sometimes lol! I’m absolutely delighted with the win in Dilly’s contest, hope you’re still in SA soaking up their summer, cheers David

David, I remember the original and thought that I had commented on when I first read these memorable lines! Sigh! Wonderful opposition with vivid imagery that articulates this poem's romantic transcendency. Congratulations on your trophy win! So happy for you! Blessings of health and happiness for the new year!

Heya Sam, what a beautiful comment, yes it was always about getting caught up in a moment of wild romance, and transcending into it from contrasting directions, I’m delighted with the trophy, and you stopping by with congrats, wishing you all the best in the year ahead, cheers David

Congratulations David - I was indeed struck by this poem the first time I read it and I love the reverse version which kind of amounts to the same result. Stunning!

Woo-hoo! You’ve just made my day Dilly, my aim was always to try get the same message across, with a reverse twist on the original poem, I’m truly honoured, cheers David

David, You have effectively communicated the polar opposite of your initial poem. I acknowledge that this is not a simple task, but the most laudable aspect is that the emotional basis seems to remain, albeit perhaps unbalanced.

Heya Lasaad, I was determined to keep the emotional theme alive, but the context opposite, took a bit of figuring out, I’m happy with the finished product, one lonely splash! did they go down together? will it be good enough to place, I’ve absolutely no idea, but sure it will get a fair hearing, and that’s good enough for me, my middle name is unbalanced lol, cheers David

Bridgecrossed lovers met death together. Makes me ponder the question, who or what tried to keep them apart? They really fell hard for and with each other. Perhaps the water was deep enough and they swam away. Everyone assumed they’d died. Bodies not found and they lived happily ever after. It could’ve happened.

I like your way of thinking Lin, leave it open ended, with a little mystery and mystique for the reader, it seemed like a good poem to try the opposing theme for Dilly’s contest, thanks so much for putting such positivity into the comment, cheers David

"Our love abridged" :) Love that line. Hey, it's been some time since I dropped in on one of your poems David and good to read that they still play with my brain - in a very good way. I've spent a few minutes wondering if there should be a question mark after the word "abridged" but it works both ways for me. There is much burning passion behind your words here. Cheers - Gary

You know I also thought about that question mark Gary, and the very fact you pointed it out, is telling me, yes it definitely needs one, my recent one (I shall find a way or make one) might really mess with your brain, I kind of designed it that way, anyway great to see you back around these parts again, thanks for the question mark lol, cheers David
