Opaque Memories
Cloudy overcast gray sky
Autumn canvas of blurred images ...
non-reflective, unchanging colors
melted to the mental frame
Down feathers from my wet pillow
tickle my brooding thoughts
Sadness turns to gladness
whenever I see apparitions appear on the cloth:
half-painted, unfinished pictures of me and you
Night visions of what it might have been like
growing old together —
two blossoms blooming each day anew
Turning restlessly, I see the adjacent empty pillow;
and the cloudy gray sky then continues to grow,
more cloudier than before
Those opaque memories get more blurry,
I can’t focus right anymore
Burning tears melting away all my pride,
letting you leave was the biggest mistake of my life
Darkened emotions ... overcast gray sky
I wished I hadn’t turned my back on you
when you were struggling not to say goodbye
Opaque memories
always keep the canvas from being dry
