Only In Memory's Forgotten Mist

Like wiping snow off a window to feel and see the warmth of a fireplace inside. You use your glove and in an instant, see your relatives and you playing happily. You remember the days when meat was not a sin to eat. And candy was OK too, imported chocolates so fine, not a forbidden treat. The real and thick white flocked Christmas tree with elegant pinknballs in crystal. A warm tear swims into the crevice of your dimple! For you remember, too well, when life was simple! There was no huge television blaring~ just soft songs of the season. You remember with gladness that people talked to one another. Not to cell phones constantly ringing. Love and communication floated in the Christmas air! At midnight you went to Mass to honor the birth of Jesus Christ. Smells of frankincense and real candles, filled your nostrils. All these and more, divine and spiritual catalysts Ah,tragically.. exist now. Only in memory's forgotten mist! September 17,2019 *Inspired by my Cousin Maggie and Cousin Yolanda and my best friend Joanie  with memories of Elmwood Park and the endless beauty we walked in.*

Oh thank you so much dear Panagiota for bringing your utterly beautiful poem to my attention. These joyful images bring back so many memories of when life was simple and in my opinion, so much nicer. People were so much kinder and cared about each other, not like nowadays, when so many just care about themselves. You have taken those thoughts right out of my head and penned a wonderful poem Panagiota. With kindest thoughts Ann xx

Ann, I too suffer from culture shock...people had time for one another. I guess I consider you a poetic-cousin.You do make time. You do have a heart. Best of all~ you are not just electronic nor arrogant. I read you_ I read reality. Five Stars for commenting... Love, Panagiota

I really like this. I had thought certain meats were always a sin to eat depending on the religion. I guess that part of the poem is something I am not aware of culturally. I love the nostalgia of this one, Panagiota.

Hello! Meat clarification. Had nothing to do with any religion. It was a remark about today's fetish to not eat animals. We ate many meats when I grew up. Today it's veggie burgers. That's what I was meant. We enjoyed food not feared it. It was a freer time. Panagiota xxxx There were meatless Fridays but it had zero to do with cows being dangerous. I didn't mention that in the poem,

Thanks again..I see a spelling error therein. Sorry Formatting is harder than writing a poem for me. Sorry I can't add impressive images.. Well, not really. I want my poem liked naked, so to speak. I don't want images to carry my poetry nor embellish it. Someoems move me. This one did. Blessings Panagiotaxxxxx
