It is no use pretending
that I'm the perfect blend
You will have to bend the rules of love
to want me for a friend
You must squeeze each piece of the puzzle
to fit your boxed-in dream
But, don't expect perfection,
I am simply who you've seen
You must stretch yourself outside the box
to keep the dream alive
I am simply just a circle, not the diamond you hope to find
Your optical illusion, is akin to fairy tales
In the scheme of things, within a frame, you will only see me fail
You will cut and paste, and try to change until I'm torn in two
Re-arranged, your common sense, can't change your point of view
It is no use pretending
that I'm the perfect blend
You will have to bend the rules of love
to hold me as a friend
