A rill meanders by my shady tree and vanishes into the morning mist. Who guides it on its journey to the sea as stream joins stream, with gravity's assist? Free will or destiny? Unanswered still. What guides a river's course? Deep mystery. The fates, or God, or chance, or human will? This plagues the brightest minds of history. Time is that river's steady downhill flow - to go uphill is science fiction's dream but that is a direction one can't go, for time allows no traveling upstream. What will determine how this river flows? I know not, but I know of One who knows. written 23 Sep 2020

This is an awesome poem my good friend - What will determine how this river flows? I know not, but I know of One who knows. Always, He knows everything! Holding thumbs for a first, it sure deserves it! Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

AWESOME way to write on the topic!! For me, it's all about destiny. Our free will applies to ordinary pleasures like what to watch on tv. I would love to see myself in a parallel universe and see how different life circumstances may have changed my course!!

This sonnet is perfect for the contest John. I miss having time to read poetry. Soon I hope to have things organized enough to take time for poetry. Thank you for reading so many of my older poems John. Last year, Father’s Day, I posted a blog and shared this nice video you may enjoy that shares a bit of Hawaii from some of my flight attendant friends still flying. Wonderful comment, Connie, thank you. Loved your link and the passing of the lei from one flight attendant to another. Liked the guy catching the marlin! Now I'm hungry for some pineapple, haha! I know you miss your time at Soup, even as you are missed. Praying for you as you find your new self and new normal. You're in my heart. Hugs ~ John

Beautifully composed John, and your last line speaks for all the mysteries of creation. Hope you're well, heading home today. Just grateful that we've been allowed to travel but news from home says more restrictions are being put in place. Will it ever end? Tom

Thank you, Tom. I hope your trip was wonderful and I wish you travelling mercies on your way home. Back in March, we thought this would all be over in May and here it is almost October. Oy!
