ONE VOICE MANY FACES

In your eyes I see love
You are me and I am you
We are all a part of the same face
As I embrace you all hope I embrace
For myself and for our world
We are the consciousness of creation
The voice of divine consecration
We speak for the unspeakable
And for the unspeaking
Our sounds form meanings
Around our thinking
Transforming our noise into
Structural love
Resonating with the grasses below
And the shifting clouds above.
We are the walking living music
Of God’s unfolding creation
The ticking of perpetual clocks,
The beating of eternal hearts.
We are love, we are music.
We are all the world’s parts,
Filled with the voices of countless angels,
Within you there are all the world’s seas
All the suns of the universe
All the stars of every night’s sky
We are the flowering of time
The roses along the road,
The white fences running along
Blue sky-filled ponds below the hills
The winds of the desert
The grey evening fog
The white morning rain,
The cries of children,
The smoke of the passing train,
The last breath of life
The last days of summer,
The first days of spring,
All laughter, all rhyme,
All space, all time
In you I see before the beginning,
In you I see after you cease,
I see music,
I hear painting,
As I embrace your light
I increase.
You fill my darkness,
I fill your shadows
There is no end to us;
We are eternal
In our exchanges
We dance in this eternity;
And live forever,
If only for even a moment
Here under the olive tree
Where you came to sit with me
In the light of the reflected sea.
I listened to what you said
I understood, I knew
Because I had you already within me
From the top of my head
To deep inside my shoe
We are one.
There was no need to talk
While the strings of the world’s harp
Played golden melodies for us
And saints and sinners
Walked in this eternal music
Under the historic Etruscan sun.
